Our outcomes are soft and subtle and for our Volunteers they are more important than ‘work ready’. Most of our people are recovering in some way or another and it is vital that a safe and welcoming space exists to break cycles of exclusion, dependence and lack of confidence. We work with peoples strengths and skills which we all have in some measure.
For instance, this beautiful bowl was created by a participant to thank us for supporting him. He had not been able to leave his home for 10 years prior to being with us. He found the confidence to try new things this year and created the bowl at his pottery lessons. He still comes to us and also runs a support group locally.
This story is one of a number of successes which tells us clearly that we making a difference to the lives of the people we serve.
